Because it doesn't melt, burn, or conduct electricity, it revolutionized early electrical, automotive, and consumer goods manufacturing

In the 1920s and 1930s, cast Bakelite was made into highly colorful costume jewelry, buttons, and kitchenware, which are heavily sought after by vintage collectors today
